Over 70 children took part in the Blues North Merthyr Tag rugby festival.
Bedlinog, Mount Pleasant, Santes Tudful, Pantysgallog, Goetre, Caedraw and Gwernllwyn schools all participated in what was a very successful event which was held at the Aberfan Grove field site.
The centre was recently reopened following redevelopment by the Sports Council for Wales and Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council.
The facility is an essential part of the set up in the north of the region, and will be used by the Heart of Wales under 13 and 14 squads next season again
The centre is also part of the Aberfan and Ynysowen community centre complex and is used as the coach education base within the Merthyr area for all UKCC courses and First Aid for Rugby courses.
This facility not only offers a first class playing surface for Blues squads to train and play on but a fully floodlit artificial playing surface.
