Cardiff Schools Rugby Union has again run two squads this year, giving over fifty boys rugby experience at the highest level at the under 15 age group.
Although the first side went out of the Dewar Shield competition at the semi final stage, silverware was won by beating Swansea and Pontypridd schools. The A side also picked up trophies in beating the Vale of Glamorgan and won the Amdahl bowl, again defeating Pontypridd.
Once again a party representing Cardiff Schools Rugby Union will be visiting South Africa this year. This will be the fifth visit to the Continent. Thirty nine boys and an adult group of seven will visit schools in the Cape Town and Durban areas before flying back from Johannesburg. They will also play Langa Township outside Cape Town.
Their first game will be against Paul Roos School in Stellenbosch. The school is named after the Captain of the first South African team to play Cardiff RFC, a game which Cardiff won 17-0, in 1907.
All the boys have been busy raising funds for their kit and trips and thanks go to Cardiff Blues for their donation. Dates of Tour July 21st to August 6th.
