Nicky Robinson kicked another penalty to extend the Blues lead to 15 -9. Two penalties for David Humphries brought Ulster level at 15-15. Once again the Blues line out worked well and Rob Sidoli did well challenging the Ulster throw-ins the break for Ulster came midway through the second half. Ulster scrum half Kieran Campbell darted around the blindside of the scrum and chipped ahead, the ball bounced kindly for Ulster winger Tommy Bowe who collected the ball at full speed and glided past Nick Macleod to score under the posts. David Humphries converted to take the score to Cardiff Blues 15 Ulster 22. Humphries extended the lead further with a neat drop goal before the blues made two tactical substitutions with Deiniol Jones and Ryan Powell coming on in place of Craig Quinell and Mike Phillips. With less than five minutes to go Ulster tried clearing the ball on the halfway line, Trystan Davies charged down and Rhys Williams picked up and sprinted for the line. With the Ulster defence closing in he managed to pass to Craig Morgan and the winger had enough pace to score the try which Robinson converted, to take the score to Cardiff Blues 22 - Ulster 25. Ulster managed to hang on to the lead despite pressure from the Blues.
