Assistant coach Geraint John said, "It is now nearly a month since our last competitive match and this was a good opportunity to practise team drills and attacking combinations. In the event it proved worthwhile."
The Blues gave game time to 24 players, with Nick Walne, Matthew Nuthall and Nathan Llewellyn being added to the original squad announcement (and Richard Smith remaining on stand-by).
After a first ten minutes when the Combined team dominated territory and possession the Blues soon got into their stride. seven tries were scored before the interval, all impeccably converted by Nick Macleod, two of them from the right touchline.
Another six tries followed in the second half. By the end Dean Dewdney had run in four, Robin Sowden-Taylor and Rhys Thomas two each, with others coming from Rhys Williams, Ryan Powell, Nick Robinson, Chris Czekaj and James Goode. Macleod finished with 10 conversions in 13 attempts.
Referee Nigel Owens blew the final whistle after 30 minutes play in the second half with the Blues leading 83-nil.
