The initial exchanges were fiercely contested, with both sides receiving an equal share of the ball. Tight head prop Muntassa Al Habsi (Coed Glas) showed why he is fast developing a reputation for his ferocious tackling. Seven telling tackles within the first 15 minutes ensured turnover ball that was well utilised by his backs.

It was Cardiff, however, who managed to make the most of their opportunities through quick and decisive decision making and direct angles of running, especially from centres Richard Singer (Rhiwbina) and Callum Sheedy (St. Peters).

The forwards quickly wore the Newport pack down and presented the back line with numerous opportunities to cross. Nevertheless, it was not until well into the first half that a drive by forwards Kieran Trotman (Danescourt) and Bradley Mais (Pentrebane) set the platform for number 8 Lewis Marshall (Coed Glas) to go over. Further tries from Tyler Mahony (St. Cadocs), Joseph Williams (Lisvane) and a Michael Hale (Ysgol Bro Eirwg) brace saw the final score at Cardiff 36 - Newport 0. William Hayward (Pentyrch) added the conversions.

Man of the match was blindside flanker Jordan Viggers (Rumney). A star in the making for his superb display of supportive play.

Cardiff B v Newport B
Once again the Cardiff pack dominated their opposition in the early exchanges. Mathew Jones (Bryn Hafod) and Sydney Blackmore (Llandaff CW) were quick to capitalise on any Newport errors and with skipper Shane Young (Willowbrook) impressively leading his pack of forwards, quick ball was always going to be presented to the backs.

Tries from (Luke Thomas) St. Josephs, Joel Croker (Baden Powell), Lewis Kirk and Callum MacDonald (both Trowbridge) saw the B side equal the A side score with a 36 - 0 win.

Man of the match was Joseph Wilcox (St. Albans). A tight five player who lead by example from start to finish and was commended for his display by the opposition coaches.
