As he returned from Paris, Yapp said, "Having come up through the ranks with Cardiff youth and under-21s I am delighted to be staying with the Blues. I can only benefit from staying here and continuing to be coached in my position by Dai Young".
Young added, "I have said recently that John still has much to learn as a prop but he is making tremendous progress. None of us who have worked with him at the Blues are the least bit surprised that he is making such a big impression in the Wales camp. He has a great future in the game and we are all relieved that for the next few years it will be with us as well as Wales."
As Yapp's reputation grows the next honour on the horizon is an invitation to play for the Northern Hemisphere against the Southern Hemisphere in the Tsunami Relief Match at Twickenham next Saturday. Blues' full-back Rhys Williams has also been invited to play in what promises to e a high-profile occasion.
