Injury Update After Blues' First Match

16th August 2004

Director of coaching David Young reported a mixed bag of news when he reflected on injuries sustained by his Blues' squad in the pre-season match at Worcester.

"The good news is that one of our props, Martin Jones, did not suffer concussion when he received a bang on the head in the match," he said. "So Martin is OK to take a full part in training this week.

"The picture regarding Nathan Budgett is less clear. He has suffered an injury in the region of his neck and we are awaiting a further medical examination. We should know by the middle of the week the extent of the injury and when he will be fit again. Hopefully, it will be sooner rather than later."

The Blues' preparations are now focused on the away game against Leicester Tigers on Saturday week, 28 August, which will also be a benefit match for Tigers' inetrnational hooker, Dorian West.
