Quinnell honoured by captaincy

7th November 2004

Craig Quinnell has spoken of the honour he felt after being appointed captain for the Blues against the Scarlets.

After leading the Blues to a 14-10 victory, he said.

"This means so much to me on a personal level. My family obviously have close links with the Llanelli club and region and I always want to do well against them. When the coaching staff told me I would lead the Blues side out I knew it would be a special honour for me. To win the match as well was the icing on the cake."

The giant lock, who has played 85 games for Cardiff and the Blues rose to the occasion magnificently with a man-of-the-match performance as the side secured a win to take them above the Scarlets in the Celtic League table.
