On a wet and windy night at Llandarcy Academy for Sport the Blues U16 South looked to keep their momentum in the Age Grade Regional Championship going after their convincing win over the Dragons in August. Preparations had gone well this week with Coaches Scott Sneddon and Jamie Ringer taking into account the unfavourable weather conditions in preparing the Blues Youngster for the game.

The first half saw the Ospreys dominate field position and possession, but the Blues refused to let the Ospreys cross the try line. A superb defensive effort led by skipper Shane Young and center Tyler Williams saw the frustrated Ospreys awarded a series of penalties but with no score gained. The Blues held their line well for the first half and were rewarded for their hard work with a Callum Sheedy Penalty to see the Blues to a half time 3 - 0 lead.

The second half saw the Blues manage to gain more possession with some exciting counter attacks by full back George Connolly, center Matthew Edwards. The Blues pressure resulted in a penalty for Callum Sheedy to slot over giving the Blues a 6 - 0 lead. The Game was then set up for an exciting finale with outside half Callum Sheedy cooly kicking a drop goal to give the Blues, what looked like certain victory. However, The Ospreys had other ideas scoring a superb try in the dying minutes through wing Luke Jenkins, the resulting conversion was missed and the Blues held on for a hard fought 9 - 5 win.

After the match Head Coach Richard Hodges said "This was a hard fought win for the lads, at times our backs were against the wall but we, as coaches, are delighted with the character the players showed especially away from home. We are in a good position having won our first 2 games, but we're not getting carried away. Next up is the Blues North away and we must keep working hard and developing as a group."
