Speaking of the signing Gethin said,
"It's great that we've now actually signed the contract and I am now back on the field of play."
"I'm happy here at the Blues and things are certainly moving forward and I hope we can again reach the heights of last season."
"I haven't played in the stadium yet but it looks really good."
"The facilities are 100% better than what we had, so I'm looking forward to playing my first home game there on Saturday."
"The training facilities now are also so much better than when I first joined the Blues."
"The training centre at the Vale of Glamorgan is also unbelievably good and I'm more than happy to pledge my future to the Blues."
Gethin was selected for the British and Irish Lions tour to New Zealand in 2005 and played in all three test matches.
He was selected again for the 2009 Lions tour to South Africa where he started the first and second tests before shoulder injury ended his tour.
"Dai has looked after me well which has helped me carry on throughout the seasons."
"The games are a lot more demanding than when I first started."
"When you play eight or ten international games on top of the regional matches it does take its toll on the body," added Gethin.
"The rehabilitation went well over the summer so I was pleased to come back within 12 weeks of the operation."
"Our physiotherapists Tim Atter and Andy Shea have worked really hard with me and Martyn as have all the Conditioning Coaches."
