It was an early start for the Blues stars on Tuesday as they made the journey to Builth Wells to visit the Royal Welsh Showground. However, the journey was more than worthwhile judging from the reception they had from supporters.

With the Cardiff Blues stand busy throughout the day and supporters taking the chance to purchase the new Blues shirts, there was a warm welcome for the four Blues players when they arrived. With hundreds of fans gathering for autographs and photos the players signed cards and merchandise before taking part in a TAG rugby game with Blues Development Officer, Carl Scales.

Speaking at the ground, Blues backrow forward Michael Paterson said,

"I come from a farming background in New Zealand so it's been really interesting to visit the Royal Welsh Show and all see the different livestock they have here."

"It's a huge event and it takes a whole day to see all the stands and events they have on."

"We've really enjoyed it and the players had a chance to see quite a bit."

Speaking of the reception Paterson added,

"To be honest we always have a great reception from fans whenever we visit these events and today was no different."

"It's great to be able to meet the youngsters and take part in the rugby match which was great fun."

"The stand has been busy all day and the new shirts seem to be selling well which is good to see."
