Danielle, a member of the Building Brighter Futures Appeal board, took the place of Marco Pierre White for one night only to lead two teams of unsuspecting Welsh sporting personalities as they attempted to feed a restaurant packed full of expectant diners.
Rhys Williams and Wales Rugby Union chair David Pickering went head to head with Cardiff City chairman Peter Ridsdale and striker Michael Chopra to prepare a sumptuous three course meal, inspired by food Danielle likes to eat, at Cardiff's Park Plaza hotel.
Diners were joined by other sporting stars, including Danielle's husband, Gary Lineker, rugby legend Jonathan Davies, Cardiff Blues chairman Peter Thomas and Cardiff City manager Dave Jones.
Award winning journalist and broadcaster, Carolyn Hitt, hosted the evening which culminated in a unique auction with lots including a golf day and lunch with Jonathan Davies at the Vale Resort, a meal for six diners at Marco Pierre White's new Mayfair restaurant, Wheelers, and a visit to the Match of the Day set, courtesy of Gary Linekar.
Danielle Lineker, said: "What a brilliant night! It brought back fond memories of my ordeal in Hell's Kitchen, and I'm thrilled that everyone came out to support such a worthy cause. I would like to thank everyone who worked so hard with me in the kitchen, all those who generously donated and bid for the auction lots, the Park Plaza for making the evening possible and of course the diners.
"I'm really proud to be a member of the NSPCC's Building Brighter Futures Appeal board and take my work with the children's charity very seriously. As a mother, I can't bear to hear of children being treated cruelly and it's become a passion of mine to help raise funds to enable the NSPCC to reach even more young people from its new Centre for Wales and help them overcome the negative impacts of emotional, physical and sexual abuse. Once again, thank you so much for all your support."
Hugh Hilary, general manager of the Park Plaza in Cardiff who kindly donated his restaurant, kitchen, staff and food for the evening, said: "Whilst it seemed to get rather hairy in the kitchen at times, chef and kitchen staff were on hand to help Danielle and her team cook up a storm for diners last night. The atmosphere was fantastic and I'm delighted that we were able to offer our guests such a unique - if not surreal - experience.
