As the half progressed the Vale were awarded a scrum on the halfway line. The ball was won by the pack and passed along the line to Tom Trottman who used his pace to go outside his defender and score under the posts. Try was converted by Anton Grigoriou 14 - 0 Vale.
The Vale forwards were now in control, and after winning a ruck in their own 22 the ball was passed along the line for Tom Trottman to race away for his second try of the game. Try was converted by Mathew Harper 21 - 0 Vale.
The Maesteg forwards started to exert a bit of pressure towards the end of the half and were awarded a penalty on the five meter line. They took a quick tap and drove over the Vale line for a try which went unconverted 21 - 5 Vale.
There was still time for the Vale to score again and from a scrum on the Maesteg 22 the ball was passed along the Vale line for Luke Swain to score his second try of the game. The try was unconverted 26 - 5 Vale.

The second half started evenly but the Maesteg pack started to gain control and spent 15 minuets on the Vale line gaining a couple of penalties.
The vale defence held firm during this onslaught and eventually the Vale pack started to drive up field. From a ruck on the Maesteg 22 the ball was passed along the line for Tom Trottman to race in to score his third of the game. The try was unconverted 31 - 5 Vale.
The Vale boys spent the last five minutes in the Maesteg half but were unable to add to the 31 points they scored and that's how it ended.
