In wet and slippery conditions at Carmarthen the Vale backs looked to run the ball whenever possible, but with many handling errors due to the weather many attacking chances fizzled out. The forwards took control and Reuben Williams emerged from a maul to score under the posts, taking 3 defenders with him and being driven well by Max Cunnington and Jack Lee, Bevan Howell converted. Some determined running by Luke Beattie, Iestyn Raven, Ben Jones, Rhys Jones and Harrison Ashby was supported well by Oli Rowbottom, Daniel Holden, Jac Roberts and Jack Little. Carmarthen hit back from a Vale clearance kick to run in an unopposed try and convert to make the final score 7-7 and a fair draw for both teams.

Preparations were put in place for the challenge of Aberystwyth schools the following day with a carbo-loading and wrestling session at a local hostelry led by Reuben. The following day in glorious sunshine, the Vale team started well by showing their intentions as Bevan Howell was fed from a penalty to throw 2 dummies and score under the posts, converting himself for a 7 nil lead. Aber hit back through their winger, scoring near the posts after Vale were penalised for handling in the ruck and added the conversion, 7-7. After Vale lost the ball in the Aber 22 they gathered and sprinted a full 70 metres to score under the posts with Joseff Williams just missing an ankle tap to halt him. 14-7 to Aber.

The Vale backs were full of running and combined well through Ben Jones, Rhys Jones and Rhydian Williams to work Jo Williams clear to dive and score, 14 - 12. Again the Vale hit back though the backs, fed expertly by Ioan Williams and Ioan Lewis, using their speed to outpace the defence and Rhydian Williams showed speed and strength after being high-tackled to still score, Bevan adding the conversion, 14-19 in Vale's favour. Aber fought back through their bigger and sometimes more "mature" forwards but the Vale defence were up to it with superb tackling by captain Durlucia, Ellis Simon, Max Lucas and Cameron Roy, driving them back towards their own line. Vale received a penalty for another high tackle and ran it through Rhodri Hopkins, Harrison Ashby and Bev Howell who popped the ball to the supporting Finlay Davies to crash over for a try, making the final score Aberystwyth 14, Vale 24. A deserved victory for the whole squad.

The players and fathers took advantage of the hospitality shown by the away team during the afternoon and evening with some much needed rehydration, interspersed with a visit to the local cinema and amusement arcade, while also supporting Wales in their victorious quest at Murrayfield.

The following day saw the tired squad leave for home via Manor Adventure park and some treetop balancing and extreme zip wiring after an unscheduled mini-tour of mid Wales, including Llandewi Brefi and Lampeter (twice).
