Besides being discerning followers of rugby, Cardiff Blues fans also know their ale. While the range of choice on the club bars is second to none and features the nation's top selling lagers, ales and ciders, not to mention the famous Hancock's HB as a Real Ale.
Presented in a 500ml bottles (that's just under a pint to you and me) it's brewed in Burton on Trent to the same recipe as the famous and much revered "Worthington's White Shield." The brew is made with English Northdown, Fuggles and Golding hops which give an aromatic nose and distinctive bitter finish plus the dual strain yeast brings apple and banana flavours.
This is the beer that won the International Beer competition gold medal in 2003 and the Camra champion bottle conditioned beer of Britain in 2006 - So it not only has plenty of pedigree but at 5.6% ABV it is to be respected! In fact it should be poured with a steady hand, leaving the last few drops containing the yeast in the bottle. Being a bottle conditioned beer the yeast ensures it continues to ferment. It will continue maturing for up to three years, which makes it a great drink and the perfect gift and souveniour of a visit to Cardiff Arms Park.
Incorporating the club crest and its own distinctive branding the bottle label carriers this inscription:
This special limited edition Blues Ale celebrates the first five years of regional rugby and the end of an era. Also an association with Coors Brewers that goes back to when Frank Hancock captained Cardiff and Wales way back in 1884 - It shows the affinity between great rugby and great beer.
This season the Blues were competing for silverware on three fronts, with designs on becoming one of the biggest and most successful teams in Europe.
This final season for the Blues at the Arms Park, is set to provide rugby supporters, both old and new, with many lasting memories of times past at this famous ground, as well as very bright hopes for the future. "Let's drink to that."
Available from today we are sure it will be a big hit. It's a limited edition brew that will be available on the club bars, hospitality lounges and also other outlets at the Arms Park. So get yours now while stocks last.
