In a hard fought 18-8 win, Cardiff Blues Girls took the first game of the season with pride.

The match started of well with strong forward play from the Scarlets, causing a few problems for the Blues within the scrum, but the blues soon found their footing and drove play down field and within reach of the Scarlets try line on a number of occasions, Scarlets seemed pressurised at this stage of play and give away two penalties and opened the door for the Blues no.10 Brogan Jones to convert. Scarlets managed to convert a penalty from a poor blues error and the first half score 6 - 2 to the Blues Girls.

Second half of the game became open play for the blues with some good forward play, helping the ball to flow out to the backs and giving young Cerys Ballett a well deserved try.

Within minutes another try came from the blues full back Chloe Smith with a run down the field that would have made our senior squad take notice.

Brogan Jones converted and taking the score too 18 - 3.

The Scarlets never gave up and managed a late try from Nady Kabia, but this was too late in the game and on the final whistle the Blues won 18 - 8.

Blues Girls U18's look forward to their next game away too Gogledd Cymru at the end of the month (Venue: Caernarfon)
