The Vale started this match well with the forwards taking control at the breakdowns, and only strong tackling from Bridgend kept them at bay. From a scrum on the 5meter line Joe Short fancied himself as a scrum half and fed the ball into the scrum, picking up at the rear he powered his way over to score. Cai Evans converted 7 - 0 Vale.


From the kick off the Vale forwards again made their way up field, and from a ruck on the 22 the ball was passed along line to Cai Evans who ghosted through the defence to score under the posts. Cai Evans converted his own try 14-0 Vale. A lapse in concentration at the restart gifted the ball to Bridgend who passed the ball along the line to the winger who raced in for an unconverted try. 14 - 5 Vale.

By now the Bridgend forwards were back in the game but gave away a penalty on the halfway line. A quick tap by Spencer Robinson started the backs off with the ball reaching Will Gale in the center he cut through the defence to race and score under the posts. Converted by Cai Evans 21 - 5 Vale.

With only a couple of minutes of the half remaining Bridgend moved up field and with the help of a couple of penalties managed to cross for a try right on half time. The try was unconverted 21 - 10 Vale.

From the restart the Vale forwards started well moving the big Bridgend pack around the field and from a ruck on the Bridgend 22 James Holder went blind stepping inside three players on his way to score. Converted by Cai Evans 28 - 10 Vale.

As the half progressed Bridgend started to win some good possession and from a good forward drive made it over the line only for the ball to be held up. From the resulting scrum the Vale gave away a penalty and from a quick tap Bridgend crash over to score. Try converted 28 -17 Vale. Bridgend where now playing some good rugby and had the Vale on the ropes and from another penalty they managed to score. Try unconverted 28 - 22 Vale.

Vale players where now tackling for their lives and from a crunching tackle in midfield Bridgend spilt the ball. Will Gale was the first to react and picked up the ball brushing off two tacklers on his way to score under the posts. Try converted by Cai Evans 35 -22 Vale. And that's how it finished with the Vale boys deserving their win and progressing to the semi finals. Thanks to Bridgend Schools for a great match and the parents for providing the post match meal.
