On a cold crisp Sunday morning Cardiff & Vale District under 12's travelled to Abercynon to play Heart of Wales. The start was slightly delayed to help the pitch thaw out but Cardiff & Vale got off to a very good start with a break by wing Jo Williams who was ankle tapped short of the line. He flicked the ball up to Lewis Kirk who was following up and scored the first try. Tyler Williams added the conversion from far out.
Heart of Wales put in some serious defensive work especially their young lady second row.
Cardiff & Vale again pressed and from a clearance kick from Heart of Wales Ben Crabbe caught the ball just inside the Heart of Wales half and with a good run, scored over in the corner. Tyler Williams again added the conversion from a difficult ange.
Next it was the turn of Callum Sheedy to score which gave Cardiff & Vale a commanding lead.
Half Time Heart of Wales 0 Cardiff and Vale 19
The Cardiff & Vale forwards were playing well and from a resulting ruck, Jack Beere powered his way over for a try. Minutes later a very good passing move by the backs saw Jo Williams scoring in the corner. Ben Crabbe kicked the conversion..
Callum Sheedy then scored his second try, with the final try of the game coming when Daniel Owen scored under the posts after a good run. Ben Crabbe added the conversion.
To their credit Heart of Wales never gave up but on the day Cardiff and Vale were the better team. Many thanks to Abercynon RFC for their hospitality
