This October will see the completion of the £675m St David's in Cardiff, which includes a four storey John Lewis department store, the largest John Lewis outside London, and will propel Cardiff into the top ten shopping destinations in the UK

To celebrate the new St David's development, the Cardiff stand will feature a horticultural interpretation of the city's shopping experience. The Cardiff Capital for Shopping garden features a large shopping bag overflowing with plants plus four raised beds acting as shop windows representing different aspects of shopping in the city. The capital's traditional arcades are also present in the garden and are represented by a delicatessen and a jewellery display. The delicatessen features overflowing hampers of delicious goodies and the jewellery display features planted jewellery boxes and sparkling planted containers.

The garden, designed by Cardiff's Parks Service, has already received rave reviews from its time spent at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show earlier this year, winning the silver gilt award as well as attracting the attention of visitors including Gavin and Stacey star Alison Steadman, Welsh fashion designer Julian MacDonald and actor Bill Nighy.

As well as seeing the wonderful garden during the Royal Welsh Show, visitors to the Cardiff stand can also find out more about the new St David's development (opening October 22), John Lewis Cardiff (opening September 24) and on the new Hayes Apartments development.

Sport.Cardiff will also be present at the show and will be promoting its European City of Sports activities, which include hosting the UK School Games 2009. Cardiff Blues will be joining the Sport. Cardiff team on the stand on Wednesday introducing the new stadium and Blue's players Tom James, Deiniol Johnes and Bradley Davies will be on hand to talk to visitors between 12.00 - 2.00pm .
