Halfpenny crowned player of the year

An incredible season for Leigh Halfpenny was crowned in style on Sunday night when he was awarded the Cardiff Blues Players of the Year, as voted for the Cardiff Blues supporters.
The Academy Player of the Year - Sponsored by Canterbury, was awarded to young front row forward Scott Andrews, while Tom James received the Most Promising Player of the Year - Sponsored by Severnside Recycling.
The Players' Player of the year - Sponsored by Tremorfa winner was Robin Sowden Taylor.
The Gala Dinner, which was sponsored by Worthington's, was not only a chance to present trophies to the players who were selected in the Greatest Arms Park XV during the professional era, but also to the current crop of players who have reached the impressive landmarks of playing 50 or 100 games for the region.
Speaking after the ceremony Leigh said, "I'm obviously delighted to have received this award and especially when you consider the quality of players we have in the squad."
"I couldn't have dreamt of a better season for myself, but what is more pleasing it has been a great season for the whole squad, winning the EDF Energy Cup was really the icing on the cake."
