Job Description:

Job Title: U12 Rugby Development Officer – Blues North (RCT, Merthyr, South Powys – based in RCT Sports Development Office, Pontypridd)

Responsible to: Regional Community Development Manager - Blues

Principal Accountabilities:
• The candidate will understand sustainable sports development principles and will be capable of producing development plans to guide their work.
• The candidate will use rugby to assist primarily primary and some secondary schools to meet the objectives of the PE and School Sport working group of the National Assembly. This programme will be co-ordinated by the RCDM.
• The candidate will work closely with mini and junior sections of clubs to assist in their development of U8 - U12 rugby.
• The candidate will develop a programme within schools that fits the overall development objectives of the Regional Development Plan and assist in all duties that may reasonably be viewed as relevant to the job of promotion of rugby within the Blues region.
• The rugby development programme will focus on access and equity and include provision for females, disability groups and areas of social disadvantage.
• The rugby development programme will develop effective links with national development programmes such as Dragon Sport, Disability Sport, 5x60, National PE and Sport Programme, etc.
• The candidate will use coach education and leadership training to increase the number and quality of teachers and volunteers available to support schools and club rugby.
• The candidate will coordinate a programme of playing opportunities for Primary schools through the development of cluster festivals.
• The candidate will liaise with the DC Thomas U11 teams and provide support within the Blues North region for relevant district squads.
• The candidate will coordinate, where appropriate, school visits for Apprentices, Volunteers, Regional Players and, where appropriate, match day activities.
• Produce monthly reports for RCDM detailing achievements.
• Organise and deliver Holiday Programmes during the holidays for players of school age as and when required.
• Assist in player development camps when required.
• Attend monthly District Junior Association meetings in RCT and Heart of Wales.
• Deliver on UKCC Coaching Courses when required.
