Teams within the Cardiff Blues region also enjoyed great success last season winning a number of competitions. To celebrate the achievements of the teams they will parade their trophies around the Millennium Stadium pitch during half time at the Cardiff Blues v Leicester Tigers in what promises to be a great day. With the Blues having already sold over 10,000 tickets for their clash against Leicester Tigers at the Millennium Stadium on the 29th of October
"It's a great achievement by all those involved and it promises to be a great day at the Millennium Stadium. The success of these teams shows the talent and passion for rugby within the region and it's great that we are able to acknowledge the hard work they have put in." said David Young.
One of the teams that did win some silverware last season were Pontypridd RFC who lifted the Konica Minolta Cup. They will be returning to the National Stadium this season for the Leicester match.
"The boys stuck at it all year and we were quite consistent. However, we did target the cup knowing full well that Neath and other sides were perhaps stronger than us over the season so we were pleased to win the cup. Were looking forward to coming down on the day. I think it will be a great day for all involved in the Blues region, more importantly were looking forward to the game and obviously showing of a bit of silverware." said Dale McIntosh Pontypridd RFC Club Captain.
Cardiff RFC also won the Slekirk Sevens and Justin Burnell the Cardiff RFC Head Coach added: "Winning such a recognised tournament rounded off a perfect weekend for us in Scotland. It was great opportunity for team building and morale and also a good foundation for this season. It was a very worth while trip and we'll be back next year to defend title. The match at the Millennium Stadium is a great opportunity for all the teams within the region to rub shoulders and it goes to show the development of rugby within the region is certainly very strong".
