World Cup Stars Ready For Action

20th November 2003

Cardiff Blues' World Cup representatives are back with the regional squad and are ready for action when the Celtic League campaign resumes with a visit to Munster on Friday 28 November.

After training today coach David Young confirmed that Iestyn Harris, Tom Shanklin, Martyn Williams, Rhys Williams and Namibia's Heino Senekal would all be involved in the 22-man squad on duty in Cork. He said,

"I have met with all five of them individually and they have been brimming with enthusiasm at this week's sessions. Unless there are any mishaps next week they will certainly be travelling with us to Ireland."

On more general issues surrounding the three-week break in fixtures Young added,

"We have had a structured period of preparation since our last game against the Dragons on 7 November. In many ways it's like a new season starting all over again and there is a quiet air of excitement in the squad.

"We know we face big challenge next week as Munster will also have their World Cup returnees - and after that it will be the Heineken Cup. So we will have to be at our very best but, even so, we are looking forward to these big games."
