The first try came after a blistering 70m break from Barry wing Aaron Reid. Although he was stopped short of the line by a superb covering tackle from the Taff Rhondda outside half, excellent support work from Pentyrch centre Gabriel Davies saw him complete the score. St Peters' Jack Huntley converted.

The home side's lead was extended shortly after following a splendid solo effort by wing Jack Huntley. From 30m out, he mesmerised his opposite number with steps off both feet to cross the try line unopposed. He then converted to take the lead to 14-0.
After these early setbacks the Taff Rhondda side fought back strongly. Concerted pressure, particularly by the visiting forwards, and some poor defence from the home side allowed Taff Rhondda in for an unconverted try.
Cardiff & Vale were not deterred by this score and again showed their dominance in the backline. Some excellent interplay led to a try for St Peters fullback Danny Wardle which went unconverted and took the score to 19-5 at the break.

The second half again saw Taff Rhondda come back strongly. In particular their back row were magnificent, physically dominating the tackle area throughout the match. Their efforts were subsequently rewarded with another unconverted try.

As the half progressed the home side finally seemed to realise that the game would be won by spreading the ball and not taking on the visiting forwards. Some crisp passing and great support play saw "super-sub" second row Matthew Dinham of Fairwater go over in the corner with his first touch of the game. The try went unconverted.

As the game came to a close the Taff Rhondda side again pressed hard. However, excellent defence by Cardiff & Vale saw the ball turned over on halfway. It was quickly moved out along the backs and speedster Gabriel Davies flew over to touchdown under the posts. Rhiwbina outside half Josh Rees converted to seal victory at 31-10.

This was an excellent game played in great spirit by both sides. Many stood out as possible candidates for man-of-the-match, but in the end there was only one winner. The award goes to Jack Huntley for his silky running skills and fearless tackling!
