It's nice to be back at the training base and back in the routine of things and seeing all your friends. I think the international players just want to put the last few games for Wales behind us and look forward to playing for the Blues again. I really enjoy playing against the English teams. Obviously I'm familiar with them from my time playing with Saracens so it's nice to get a chance to play sides that have different styles of play. It's especially good when we get one over the English teams.

We have a different pool of teams from last season's EDF Energy Cup. I imagine the squad are looking forward to playing against teams they may not have faced before?

We played Saracens, London Irish and Wasps last season so it's refreshing to have a different group. Sale, Bath and Leicester are all tough teams and it's a good competition that we enjoy playing in. People say that some of the teams don't take the competition seriously but as soon as you get on the pitch it's a game in my eyes, and a game that we want to win. We take them 100% seriously.

We then face two English teams in the Heineken Cup, what are your aims for that tournament?

We go into the Heineken soon and it's a competition that we really want to move forward in. In past years we haven't progressed. We've had good opportunities, but when it's come down to the crunch we haven't really performed. However we have a good squad this year, it's the biggest squad I've seen at the Blues and everyone's pushing for places and that's something we haven't had before. In the past the team sort of picked itself. That doesn't apply so much now and hopefully that will reflect in our performances. We really want to qualify for the quarter finals because once you get to that stage anything can happen.

Gareth Thomas has joined us and is known as a versatile player and you have played in the centre and on the wing. Where do you see your strongest position?

I'll do whatever is best for the team but I don't see myself as a winger anymore. We have some young wingers with a lot of talent. I prefer to play at centre and that's probably one of our strongest positions along with 7. If you look at the centres, we've got: Dafydd Hewitt, Tom Riley, Tal Selley, Marc Stcherina, Jamie Robinson, Alfie and myself. There are eight players who've proved they can play at this level.

Away from rugby what's happening in your life?

I'm looking forward to the festive season and writing my letter to Father Christmas asking for a R2D2 from Star Wars. It's a scale version with projector in its eye which projects DVD's onto the walls. It has an ipod dock, DVD player and the remote control is the Millennium Falcon. Basically you use it as a hi-fi system stroke projector. It's a bit expensive so I'll have to make sure I'm a good boy.

I hear that you are a bit of legend on the Karaoke also?

That's true. My machine is actually over at Jamie's flat, from last year's party. I opened the night with Queen's Crazy Little Thing Called Love. I had a standing ovation and an encore. Then I think Xavier came up and did Suspicious Minds by Gareth Gates…… it definitely wasn't the Elvis version.
