The young Blues visitors were well prepared for a physical welcome from their Dragon counterparts and this typified the opening exchanges. Both packs went toe-to-toe, but it would be the Cardiff & Vale side that had the edge on the day. Time and time again they recycled quality ball for their swift backs to use. After 14 minutes of play outside half Rhys Griffin (Cowbridge) pushed a great kick into the corner. He then showed how much he is maturing with every game by quickly following up and snatching a touchdown. His own conversion went narrowly wide.

Minutes later second row Elliot Sebestyén-Regan (St Josephs) made a clean midfield break and following some lovely interplay between the outside backs and the ever-present openside flanker Matthew Corfield (St Peters), centre Jacob Chilcott (Rhiwbina) took the final pass to power over in the corner. Rhys Griffin made the conversion to take the score to 12-0 to the visitors.

The Caerphilly team came battling back into the game and it was only some stern defence from Cardiff & Vale that kept them out. Unfortunately wing Jack Huntley (St Peters) was injured making a great tackle and had to leave the field. However, the saying "every cloud has a silver lining" was never so apt as on came super-sub Roberts-Walters. As the half came to a close he made one of his trademark breaks and brushed off would be tacklers to score in the corner. The try went unconverted for the half to end Cardiff & Vale 17, Caerphilly 0.

In the second half the visitors pushed home their advantage with some excellent all round play. This was kick started by two quick unconverted tries from Christian Roberts-Walters within 7 minutes. The first followed a powerful surge and great offload from No. 8 and captain Gus Rees-McPherson (Cowbridge). The second came after a rampaging run by Elliot Sebestyén-Regan and a very deft pass from scrumhalf William Baird (St Peters). Three minutes later, using footwork more accustomed to Strictly Come Dancing, Christian spun in for his fourth try. This was converted by Rhys Griffin to take the score to 34-0.

To be fair to the home side they never gave up and continually came back with robust attacks. However, it was Cardiff & Vale who again finished strongest and in the closing minutes prop Joseph Fuller (St Josephs) powered over from 20 meters, carrying a number of defenders with him. Replacement outside half Josh Rees (Rhiwbina) converted. Final score Cardiff & Vale 41, Caerphilly 0.
Again there were many outstanding performers on the day. Hooker Sam Sweetingham (Rumney) was powerful in the scrum and the loose. Blindside flanker Sam Parker was immense in the tackle. Full back Danny Wardle (St Peters) was solid under the high ball and generally in defence. However, there could only be one man-of-the-match, Christian Roberts-Walters. We won't mention the fifth try that got away!!
