We will not be taking anything for granted against Glasgow tonight, who I thought were one of the best teams in the Magners League last season. They were certainly one of the most improved and had a big bearing on where the trophy ended up. They had a very strong home record, are well organised, well coached and a very hard team to break down. I think they'll lead the fight on the Scottish front and play with a lot of spirit, so we expect a very tough game.

Even though we've already played two Magners League matches, I don't think that will be an advantage. They've played two good friendly matches against London Wasps and Newcastle so we expect them to hit the ground running. However we're just looking forward to playing at home again and keep the improvements and performances going. We've got eight games during the World Cup period and we have to try to pick up as many points as possible during that time.

We were all extremely proud of setting a new Magners League record of 16 consecutive home wins after beating the Ospreys. However I'm sure Glasgow will want to start their season with a bang and end our run, as every record is there to be broken. It's our aim to make sure that we improve on it, even though it will get harder not easier. Every team now will want to take the record away from us and we have to be ready for that challenge.

It also raises the question of why we aren't better away from home. I think we've improved in that area last season and have picked up some notable scalps on the road. However it's the consistency away from home that has let us down and that's what we have to work on.

During the RWC period we want to try to give as many players the opportunity of playing as possible. It's difficult to change a team when you're winning and obviously there's a lot of competition for places. We've also starting to produce a lot of strength in depth in some positions, which has always been my goal over the last few seasons.

We want to build a squad, which will enable us to rotate players and rest players so the performances don't dip. I still feel we are light in one or two positions but on the whole I've been pleased with the two games we've played. We made four changes for our second match and it didn't affect our performance.

The key is to manage the balance of the team which isn't easy. We would like to make some changes without disrupting the heart out of the team. I think continuity in selection is important but we have to marry that with giving people the opportunity to play. Squads win championships not teams.

The strength in depth is evident in our kicking game. Kicking form, as playing form can be temporary. Nicky went through bit of a bad patch last season, but we were fortunate that Ben came in and kicked really well and kept the slot of the number one kicker. A lot of credit has to go to Nicky, he kept on practising and improved his kicking and has taken on the duties. Ben wasn't comfortable with his kicking during pre season but that can change during the year. Competition is healthy and all teams need two or three top quality kickers, we are fortunate to have that.
