I've been fortunate that the Blues have granted me a testimonial year. I've been at the Arms Park for a long time, in fact the first time I trained with Cardiff was when I was just 17 years old. I've always enjoyed my time here and had great support, so long may it continue.

What was it like for you when you first joined?

When I first walked in the dressing room at 17 years old I was a bit overwhelmed. Jonathan Humphreys, David Young, Andrew Lewis, Neil Jenkins, Rob Howley, Mike Rayer, Andy Moore, and Craig Quinnell were all sitting there and I felt that just training with them was an honour. Derwyn Jones was my first partner in agility training, which was interesting.

It must have been a great experience?

Yes it was. Sitting with all the Welsh international stars that I was supporting the year before was a bit surreal. I was a bit star struck and I remember after leaving training I phoned all my mates and they couldn't believe it.

You tasted success very early in your career, did that drive you on to want to be more successful?

The first year I was here we won the Welsh Scottish league and won it relatively comfortably. We were coached by Lynne Howells and Geraint John and led by Dai Young. We had a winning habit and always felt that we could win. Even if we went behind we felt that we could come back and I think that the team grew with that will to win belief. I think we have some of those qualities in the present squad.

Talking of the squad we have now, we have not lost at the Arms Park for 17 matches. I imagine the squad must be proud of that achievement?

I think it's great we are getting recognition for our performances at home. We want to make the Arms Park a cauldron for visiting teams and a difficult place for them to come to. Breaking the record is a boost for the team and hopefully we can keep it going.

It's been a good start with three wins out of three, how do you feel the season has gone so far for you personally?

It's been good to get on the score-sheet and I think I'm getting back to where I was before my injury. It's a longer process than just the rehabilitation, it's not just enough to get fit enough to play, you want to play to the best of your ability. It's taken longer than I expected, but I've been relatively happy. There are still phases of my game that I'd like to improve on but I think that's true of every player. With regards to the team we want to keep our Arms Park record but need to improve on our consistency away from home, which is how leagues are won and lost. The big one is the Heineken Cup and we are looking to get through to the knockout stages. There are some really hard games in Europe, however we have got a strong squad now with plenty of strength in depth that will be boosted when boys get back from the world cup.

Over recent seasons you've made the switch from Fullback to Wing is that something that you see as a permanent move?

The past few season's I think I've played in every position in the Backs except for Scrum Half! But yes I think the move will be a permanent one.

Finally, what can we look forward to over the next twelve months with regards to your testimonial year?

There a lot of activities starting with a fashion show in November, then a dinner on 6th February 2008 in Cardiff. We'll also be organising sports forums in rugby clubs around the region and also a golf night in Chepstow and a cricket day.
