They were cheered on by a vocal Cardiff Arms Park crowd which contained many of the children who took part in the Capital Rugby coaching sessions during half term.

The coaching courses have become a regular fixture in the rugby development calendar. This time there were four sessions on four days, attracting more than 200 children. The first two sessions were conducted by development officer Gruff Rees at Canton RFC and the second sessions took place at St Peters RFC under the supervision of Gary Knowles.

The comments from both development officers were exactly the same: "The rugby just keeps getting better and better!"

Gruff Rees was thrilled by the reaction to the coaching sessions and commented, "We run these development days during half term so that the kids who are really enthusiastic about rugby can continue their rugby development. It's hugely rewarding for us as development officers when the children turn up in huge numbers as they did so last week. It gives us a clear indication of how they feel about the game and their willingness to learn.

"I've spoken to Gary (Knowles) and he told me that he is amazed at how the standard of rugby continues to get better and better.

"The coaching sessions were all based around the fundamentals of rugby, from passing and catching to basic spatial awareness. But it seems that no matter what skills the children are given to perform they always excel!"

As a reward for all the hard work that was put in by the children during the sessions they each received a match ticket for the Blues v Scarlets match, a bottle of 'wild welsh water' courtesy of Brecon Carreg and Blues postcards which features the new team photo.
