Ulster will pose another tough challenge for us this week, and under the guidance of Matt Williams have steadily improved over the season after a disappointing start for them.

Last weekend's match against the Scarlets was an entertaining encounter for the supporters but not such and enjoyable one for the coaches. Although I was pleased with the win and we played some good stuff on occasions during the game, I felt we sometimes lacked a bit of accuracy. However, the team showed great character to come back after being fourteen points down.

In the second half we went out and knew that we had to control the ball and not give them enough possession to cause us problems. I was disappointed in the manner in which they scored as we had done well to dominate the line-outs and controlled the scrums. In reality they probably had four chances and scored four tries.

As a squad we have talked about progressing and that's paramount for us season on season. We were disappointed after Toulouse and we didn't want the season to fizzle out. We are determined to finish in a strong vein, which will ensure we are the highest placed Welsh side in the Magners League.

This season we won two out of three games in the EDF Cup, when the draw was against us with two of the three matches away. We reached the quarterfinals of the Heineken Cup for the first time and are set to finish high up in the Magners League. So it's been a step forward for us this season. What we have got to strive to is to take it further next season.

Our remaining fixtures see us playing Ulster twice. Ravenhill is never an easy place to go to get a win as the Dragons and Scarlets have found out this season. Ulster I'm sure will be determined to end the season well also and to secure a Heineken Cup place for next season.

They are always very abrasive, very physical and offer big challenges in the scrum and line out. They have a lot of big ball carriers, so our defence will have to be a lot better than last weekend. They are on an upward curve under Matt Williams, who has steadied the ship and moved them forward. They have quality players in Tommy Bowe, Andrew Trimble and Paddy Wallace. They are an experienced team with a lot of stars and I believe that where they are in the league at the moment isn't where they should be and want to be. So it will be a big challenge for us.

Lastly, I would like to thank everyone involved with the Cardiff Blues for their work and continued support this season. I hope we can reward the fans for their loyalty and end the season on a high with a win tonight.
