BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park favourite Blaine Scully has called for a bumper crowd on Saturday for a crunch European Challenge Cup encounter with Bristol Rugby.
A win would see Danny Wilson’s men qualify for the quarter-finals of the competition, with the likes of Gloucester and Ospreys potential opponents in the knockout stages.
In the build-up to the clash, Scully has praised the support of the Cardiff Blues supporters and hopes an electric atmosphere on Saturday can give his side a boost come kick-off.
“The support here is pretty awesome. I really enjoy playing my rugby here and it’s a special place to play. The fanbase has been really supportive of me personally and I really appreciate it,” said Scully.
“I want to help the team continue to grow and develop and be part of the history and tradition this club has.
“Hopefully there will be a big crowd at BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park on Saturday, for what is a massive fixture for us, and that can give the team a boost on the day.”
Despite the potential of a place in the last eight of the competition, the USA international insists Cardiff Blues are fully focused on the clash with Bristol, and has emphasised the importance of taking one step at a time, starting with what will be a tough encounter against the Aviva Premiership outfit.
“We are really excited for the challenge on Saturday and this is definitely an opportunity for us and we want to start achieving,” said the wing.
“This is a business of results, this would be a result and something we’re targeting. Now, for us, is to ensure we put in the performance which would drive that result.
“The focus for us is Bristol, and nothing else matters. It is the most important game for us in our European season.”
Scully continued: “Bristol have definitely grown into the season and they will be a test for us. It will be a hungry team, whoever they pick to play, and so we’ll have to be on our best in order to compete.
“I imagine it will be a pretty physical game, so we’re targeting the first 20 minutes as really important for us to make sure we can set out our stall, because we’re expecting them to set out theirs."
