Players bare all in #SSFO calendar

28th November 2016

Cardiff Blues stars including Gareth Anscombe and Lloyd Williams have stripped off and bared all in aid of former teammate Owen Williams.

The former Wales and Cardiff Blues centre suffered a significant spinal injury in the summer of 2014, ending his promising career prematurely.

Now some of the region’s leading players have exposed all but their tackle in a special 2017 #StayStrongForOws calendar to support their close friend.

All profits from the calendar, which is on sale now, will go towards the #StayStrongForOws campaign and cover star Josh Navidi had no hesitations in getting his kit off.

Navidi, 25, said: “It’s all for such a great cause and we ended up having a good laugh doing it – it’s completely different to what we normally do!

“All the boys were getting stuck into each other – in my photo I’m laughing because they were behind the photographer taking the mick.

“It began with everyone quite apprehensive but you have to throw yourself into it and once we did it was good fun.

“The boys were flat out trying to fill themselves out before the shoot and I won’t name names but a few were even doing weights to get a pump on during it!

“But it worked out well and I was chosen for the front although my missus isn’t too happy about me being a cover star!”

In addition, Ellis Jenkins, Lewis Jones, Cory Allen, Josh Turnbull, Cam Dolan, Steve Shingler, Macauley Cook and Kirby Myhill also feature.

The calendar can be purchased from the Cardiff Blues club shop and is priced at £10 with hundreds of copies already snapped up.

Blues commercial director Rhys Williams added: “The boys wanted to do something different to support their former teammate and the #StayStrongForOws campaign.

“They came up with the idea and we were more than happy to put it in motion. It’s great to see so many have already been snapped up.

“Every penny of the profit made goes towards #StayStrongForOws, so it is a great cause which is close to our hearts.”
