Danny Wilson has urged Cardiff Blues to complete a Guinness PRO12 double over Edinburgh to finish the season on a winning note.
The Judgement Day defeat to the Ospreys ended a four game winning run and any hopes of a top six finish.
Wilson is still disappointed with his side’s performance in the final ten minutes at the Principality Stadium but he is desperate to close out the campaign with a win in the Scottish capital.
He said: “The Ospreys game was a frustration because we let in some soft scores throughout the game yet we still had a lead with ten minutes to go and there was a disappointing 10 minutes where we didn’t deal with Rhys Webb.
“We finished a game poorly, which we haven’t done for the majority of this season.
“We were extremely competitive for 70 minutes, we were very much in the game and some might say in the first-half we had the edge.
“But it’s disappointing that after two good derby wins we lost the third and if you pick highs and lows from the season, the highs would be winning four derbies, the lows losing twice to the Ospreys.
“There’s plenty of good and we have put down a platform for next season but we certainly don’t want to go to Edinburgh and lose.
“We have also had 10 wins this year versus five last season, we would like that to be 11 against Edinburgh to finish the season with a win and go into the next on a good run.”
Wales’ Capital Region have won 80 per cent of their PRO12 matches at BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park this season and with that and the derby victories, Wilson believes his side have changed perceptions.
He added: “It would have been great to have finished in the top six, and great if we can finish seventh but even if we don’t achieve that we have still achieved a lot this season and have changed the outside view of Cardiff Blues.
“It is the starting point but people see we play an exciting style of rugby, we have a good home record, are tough to beat at home and we can win some derbies.
“There’s a lot to build on but there’s still things we need to drastically improve to be competitive and in the top six next year.”
Lloyd Williams is set to return for the clash after returning to fitness following concussion and a knee injury but Sam Warburton has been ruled out due to a shoulder injury.
