Patch: We gave it everything at JDIII

25th April 2015

Rhys Patchell insisted Cardiff Blues had given it everything on Judgement Day III as they lost out to Ospreys in an enthralling Guinness PRO13 encounter at the Millennium Stadium.

Cardiff Blues scored tries through the outstanding Josh Navidi and replacement Dan Fish and had led at half-time.

Play-off bound Ospreys fired back in the second half to secure the try bonus point.

However, Patchell hoped the fans had seen the effort put in by Blues as they fought right until the end.

“It was a fast game and the first half, and certainly the first 30 minutes, we really took it to the Ospreys,” he said.

“But we let them in just before half-time and just after half-time; that was crucial and how the game was taken away from us.

“We showed great character to work hard and get ourselves back within five points and then it went away from us again.

“I don’t think our spirit has ever been in doubt, we try as hard as we can every week and I hope that comes across on the field. There is no lack of effort and we just need to work on our accuracy.

“As an occasion it was fantastic, to see so many people in the Millennium Stadium, and long let Judgement Day continue,” he added.
