Darren joined Cardiff RFC at the start on the 2006-07 season and immediately made a big impression on his full debut in the home fixture against Llanelli. They were familiar opponents as he was educated at the famous West Wales school at Gwendraeth from where he represented Wales at under-16 and under-18 levels. He was also a member of the Scarlets Academy when he played for Wales in the under-19 World Cup in Dubai in March 2006. He is now a member of the Blues Academy.
