 The Cardiff Blues run three teams at age grade level: the Under 18's, Blues South Under 16's, made up of players from Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan, and the Blues North Under 16's, made up of players from Rhondda Cynon Taf, Merthyr and South Powys.
Some of these players will make their way in to the Blues Academy and hopefully on to the Cardiff Blues first team.
In the 2006/07 season the Blues managed to reach all three age grade finals. Despite playing well it was a step too far for the Blues North under 16's and Blues under 18's. However, the Blues Under 20's broke the Ospreys' stranglehold on the WRU Regional Championship with an emphatic 22-7 victory over the holders in the Under 20 final at St Helens.
Regional High Performance Manager Gafyn Cooper said, "We are delighted to have a team of players who want to play for each other, many of whom will be involved in the Wales age grade squads."
"They have been terrific all season and to see them play as well as this in the final is great. Credit also goes to our excellent team of coaches across our age grade sides. I hope things continue in the same vein."
